I was raised in Wausa, NE, a small town in Northeast Nebraska. My family farmed and raised cattle. My dad and mom instilled a strong work ethic in me at a very early age. I grew up with two sisters and a variety of animals for pets!
After graduating from High School (a very large graduating class of 26 students!), I attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk. I earned an Associate of Arts degree. I ended up working in Omaha at a dental office at the front desk. I worked with a fabulous dentist who encouraged me to return to school for dental hygiene. He let me take extra time over my lunch so I could take classes then as well as night classes at UNO. It took me 2 years of doing this and then was able to apply for the dental hygiene program at UNMC College of Dentistry. I was accepted; I started in 1993 and graduated in 1995 with my BS degree in Dental Hygiene.
For my professional life, I have been employed in Lincoln since graduating in 1995. I have been at South Ridge Dental since April of 2002. I have done a lot of sub work at various offices throughout the years and was always glad to return to my dental "home". I truly believe in both doctors here and trust the work they recommend and provide.
Now for my personal life.....I met my husband Jeff in 1994 while working over Christmas break. We started dating on December 31, 1994 and married June 20, 1998. We have two boys, Erik (2001) and Gunnar (2002). They currently are both at Southwest High School as a Junior and Freshman. They keep us pretty busy! Besides our boys we have a cat (Simon) and a dog (Ace). They are like kids to us as well!
For my personal hobbies, I like to read....really any genre except SciFi or horror stories! My family loves to take vacations when possible. I have been fortunate enough to have visited great beaches like Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Turks and Caicos (my absolute favorite!). Fitness is a big part of my life as well. My alarm goes off at 4:40 am and I am up and at it! I have done various fitness programs throughout the years and enjoy the feeling of being sore (crazy, right?). I also love baking but it really interfered with my fitness goals so I don't do as much of that anymore! I do work a few hours on the weekends with my oldest son at a crazy donut shop in downtown Lincoln. It is great seeing patients recognize me there!
If you see me out and about, please say something to me! I LOVE talking with my patients outside the office!!
